The domain and the vineyard
Duval-Leroy is one of the last family-owned and independent Champagne Houses, located in Vertus and passed down from generation to generation. Created in 1859 by the union of two families: the Duval family, winegrowers in the Côte des Blancs in Vertus and the Leroy family, merchants near Reims, the House is distinguished by its style and its singularity, in particular by being one of the only Houses to produce and vinify 100% of their wines. In 1991, Carol Duval-Leroy took over the reins of the company steeped in history, following the premature death of her husband, with the aim of passing it on to her 3 sons who now manage the House alongside her. Champagne Duval-Leroy has a vineyard mainly established in the Côte des Blancs on an area of 200 hectares. The supply is made up of 40% Premier and Grand Crus, which is an exception in Champagne.
Plot management characterizes the know-how of the House and makes it possible to offer cuvées that are as distinctive as they are original. The "precious plots" of which the Clos des Bouveries, historic plot, is the flagship, illustrate the singularity of the program. It enhances all the richness of the terroir located in Vertus with a 100% Chardonnay grape variety and a particular soil of limestone and flint. The old vines favor a low yield and a concentration of aromas. Duval Leroy was the first Champagne House to initiate sustainable viticulture, rewarded by the strictest certifications. At Duval-Leroy, women are in the spotlight. Carol DuvalLeroy and her cellar master Sandrine Logette-Jardin enhance the terroir and the art of blending through the “Woman of Champagne” cuvées. The exceptionally prolonged aging in chalk pits for more than 10 years brings persistence and incomparable length in the mouth, reflecting elegance and refinement for an unforgettable tasting. Proud of its values, the House presents an exclusive Premier and Grand Crus range in Champagne with the promise of absolute finesse. The Duval-Leroy style is based on the search for contrasts, thliance of vinification in stainless steel for the precision of the wines and aging in the woods for the patina and the potential for aging.
