This wine with red fruit aromas is the fruit of the blend of grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Malbec.
Harvested mechanically and vinified traditionally, after being sorted and pressed, the grapes will remain in vats for three weeks, for a first fermentation, then be aged in barrels and then filtered before bottling.
This beautiful and generous Côtes de Bourg, rich and balanced overall, highlights melted tannins and a rich and slightly spicy finish.
Food and wine pairing: Gastronomic wine, red or white meats and cheeses.
Year: 2019
Taste: Freshness marked by aromas of ripe fruit, with woody flavours.
Tasting: 16/17°C
The Estate and the Vineyard
Château Grand-Maison has 6.5 hectares of clay and gravel. The vineyard is planted at 85 metres above sea level, overlooking the Gironde. Thus, the vines are subjected to almost constant westerly winds, which optimizes the concentration of the grapes and reduces the moisture, thus the risk of diseases. The encépagement is very favorable to the merlot (90%), with a complement of malbec that gives its singularity to the wines of the castle.
Grand Maison wines, including the Valades cuvée, are produced from a gentle extraction to preserve the integrity of the fruit. They show silky tannins, with full-bodied notes of plum, spices and cocoa, slightly floral and mineral in the finish.
