The Domaine de Faugeroux is a vineyard located in Civrac-en-Médoc (33340), on the left bank of the Gironde. The estate is led by Bruno Richard, a passionate winemaker and former member of the Château Lafon Rochet team, who has chosen to pursue an environmentally respectful approach to viticulture.
The Domaine de Faugeroux practices biodynamic viticulture (in conversion), with a strong commitment to nature. The vines are worked with horses, greatly limiting the use of machinery. The cellar work is equally meticulous: open vats, manual punching down, low sulphur, and no enzymes or heavy additives. Oak aging is used with restraint, bringing roundness and gentle oxygenation without overwhelming the wine.
The estate covers around 5 hectares of vines, with an average age of about 30 years.
The main grape varieties grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, typical of Médoc wines. The well-drained Médoc soil, combined with biodynamic practices, contributes to the estate’s distinctive style.
The wines of Domaine de Faugeroux are known for their classic Bordeaux character while avoiding heaviness. They stand out for their elegance, depth, and excellent drinkability, thanks to a natural and carefully controlled approach. Oak is subtly integrated, adding roundness without overpowering the fruit.
Commitment & Added Value:
Working the vines with horses and limiting chemical intervention gives the estate a strong image of sustainability and authenticity.
The conversion to biodynamics reinforces the idea of a “natural” yet well-crafted wine, appealing to wine lovers who value ethical viticulture.
With relatively small production, Domaine de Faugeroux embodies the spirit of an independent winemaker rather than a large négociant estate.
