Cigalus 2021 by Gérard Bertrand is a powerful and refined red wine, produced in the Pays d'Oc region under the IGP designation. This wine is crafted from a carefully balanced blend of Mediterranean grape varieties, mainly Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, which give it richness and complexity.

The 2021 vintage displays a deep and intense red color. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic bouquet marked by notes of ripe black fruits, spices, and a subtle hint of garrigue. On the palate, Cigalus is generous and well-structured, with silky tannins and a fresh acidity that perfectly balances its power.

This exceptional wine is ideal to accompany saucy dishes, grilled or roasted red meats, as well as aged cheeses.

Presented in a 1.5L format, it is perfect for sharing during convivial meals.

Pairing: Grilled or roasted red meats such as beef fillet, veal chop, or duck breast pair perfectly with the wine’s power and structure. Game like wild boar, venison, or partridge, whether in sauce or roasted, will enhance its silky tannins and complex aromas. Saucy dishes such as Provençal stew (daube), civet, or rich braised dishes ideally complement the richness of Cigalus. Aged cheeses — like Comté, Roquefort, or matured sheep’s cheese — also highlight its spicy and fruity notes.

The estate and the vineyard

Gérard Bertrand discovered his passion for wine in 1975 and began his first harvests. He perfected his skills for twelve years alongside his father Georges Bertrand. Subsequently, he took over the family estate: Domaine de Villemajou. It was only five years later that he created his own company in his name with the aim of developing his range of wines from the South of France. He became the owner of Domaine de Cigalus and Château Laville Bertrou in the following years.

Its vineyard is located in the South of France, in Languedoc-Roussillon, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. This region is favored by its climate: little precipitation and considerable sunshine.
