The Estate and the Vineyard
The terroir is located a few kilometers from the city of Bordeaux, with the vineyard situated on the right bank of the Dordogne river. The St Emilion vineyard, named after its village "St Emilion," is divided between "Côtes" with a limestone, sometimes even clay-limestone soil, and "Graves," characterized by a rather sandy and stony soil.
Each plot selected for the production of St Emilion Réserve Mouton Cadet is monitored by the oenologists of Baron Philippe de Rothschild to determine the optimal date to begin harvesting. This process allows for the preservation of the personality and diversity of each plot and grape variety, leading to a quality blend.
After 16 months of aging, the wines are then aged in French oak barrels for 4 to 6 months before being bottled.
St Emilion Réserve is an exceptional St Emilion, often mentioned by the Hachette and Gault et Millau guides.
