Minervois – Héritage "An 1189" 2022 by Gérard Bertrand is an elegant and expressive red wine, born from the terroirs of Languedoc. This vintage is part of the Héritage collection, which pays tribute to the great terroirs of southern France.

This wine is made from a classic Languedoc blend: Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache. The grapes come from vines grown on limestone soils, located north of Montpellier. This region benefits from a Mediterranean climate, influenced by the Cévennes mountains, which promotes optimal ripening of the grapes.

The name "An 1189" refers to a medieval legend: three knights—Guiral, Alban, and Loup—who were in love with Princess Bertrade. Upon learning of her disappearance, they decided to become hermits, each on a different mountain. They lit a fire every year to honor her .

In summary, the Minervois – Héritage "An 1189" 2022 is a Languedoc red wine that combines power and finesse, offering a rich and generous tasting experience that reflects its terroir and history.

The estate and the vineyard

Gérard Bertrand discovered his passion for wine in 1975 and began his first harvests. He perfected his skills for twelve years alongside his father Georges Bertrand. Subsequently, he took over the family estate: Domaine de Villemajou. It was only five years later that he created his own company in his name with the aim of developing his range of wines from the South of France. He became the owner of Domaine de Cigalus and Château Laville Bertrou in the following years.

Its vineyard is located in the South of France, in Languedoc-Roussillon, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. This region is favored by its climate: little precipitation and considerable sunshine.
