The 2021 Cuvée des Gouverneurs from Domaine Orenga de Gaffory is an exceptional red wine from the AOP Patrimonio appellation in Corsica. As one of the estate’s flagship cuvées, it showcases the full character of Niellucciu, the region’s signature grape variety. Its identity is deeply rooted in the clay-limestone soils typical of Patrimonio, and it is elevated by oak aging inspired by Tuscan tradition, which brings depth and elegance to the wine.
From the very first sip, this is a powerful, structured red with a dense texture. The tannins are still present, yet already well integrated thanks to a few years of cellaring. The wine impresses with its balance, complexity, and overall harmony. Old vines contribute to its concentration, offering a generous and persistent mouthfeel.
This wine embodies the excellence and expertise of Domaine Orenga de Gaffory — a standout example of Corsican red wines, combining strength, finesse, and Mediterranean character. It’s a perfect way to discover or rediscover the unique charm of Niellucciu, whether enjoyed now or after further aging.
Food Pairing: A wine of strong character, ideal for pairing with flavorful meat dishes — grilled ribeye, game, or rich, saucy preparations. Perfect for generous, convivial meals and festive gatherings.

Domaine Orenga de Gaffory is an iconic vineyard located in the heart of the Patrimonio appellation, in Haute-Corse. Founded in 1967 by Pierre Orenga, great-grandson of Louis Napoléon Mattei, the creator of the famous Cap Corse, the estate today spans 56 hectares across five communes: Patrimonio, Saint-Florent, Oletta, Barbaggio, and Poggio d’Oletta.
The vineyard benefits from a temperate Mediterranean climate, enjoying generous sunshine and the refreshing sea breeze of the Libecciu, which brings freshness and balance to the grapes. The soils, mainly clay-limestone with schist veins, give the wines remarkable minerality and finesse.
Since 2019, the estate has been certified organic and labeled Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE). This approach reflects the Orenga de Gaffory family’s commitment to environmental preservation and the production of authentic wines that respect nature.

Each cuvée reflects a unique terroir and a know-how passed down through generations. Among the flagship wines are Felice, Gouverneurs, and Signature, which illustrate the excellence of the domaine.
The estate is not only committed to producing quality wines but also places art at its core. Since 1991, the tasting cellar has been transformed into a contemporary art space, offering visitors a complete sensory experience combining the taste of wine and the beauty of the exhibited works.
