Château du Gazin is a controlled Canon Fronsac appellation wine composed of 3 grape varieties: 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec.

This subtle wine reveals notes of black fruit, blackcurrant and freshly picked blackberries. Her garnet complexion is clear with ruby reflections.

At the beginning, the nose is complex with woody notes, grilled then more greedy notes of vanilla pod and fresh caramel will charm you on this vintage with fine tannins, which will perfectly accompany roasted dishes.

The appellation Canon-Fronsac, like Fronsac, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, is part of the appellations of Libournais.

The Estate and the Vineyard

The 16th and 18th century Château du Gazin is located on the famous Right Bank alongside the appellations Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. It is located in a beautiful valley overlooking the course of the Dordogne and belongs to the Robert family since 1935.

The vineyard consists of 30 hectares of vines, 24 of which are in Canon-Fronsac and 6 in Fronsac, whose average age of vines is about 35 years. The vineyard consists of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec.

The quality of the Château du Gazin’s terroir comes from several factors:

- A calcareous clay soil on a bank of limestone with asterios that is then found on the coast of Saint Emilion

- A south-east exposure in hillsides promoting the sunshine of the vines while mitigating the strong heat of the afternoon

- Regulation of the water supply due to the subsoil and slope.

- Natural air conditioning thanks to the immediate proximity of the Dordogne
