The Terrasses du Larzac “Empreinte Céleste” 2022 from Domaine de L’Églisette is an ambitious and elegant cuvée, expressing the full depth and complexity of the great terroirs of the Larzac. Sourced from carefully selected parcels with clay-limestone and stony soils, this wine benefits from a climate marked by significant temperature variations, bringing freshness and aromatic precision.

The color is intense, a deep garnet red with slightly tawny highlights, already revealing beautiful concentration.

“Empreinte Céleste” is a wine for aging, both powerful and harmonious, which will gain finesse and complexity over the years (with aging potential of 10 to 15 years depending on storage conditions). It can be enjoyed now after decanting, but will reveal its full depth with time.

A great wine from the South, intense and distinguished, embodying the identity and nobility of the Terrasses du Larzac through an elegant and contemporary interpretation by Domaine de L’Églisette.

Food Pairing: Ideal with grilled rib steak, herb-roasted leg of lamb, game in sauce, lamb tagine, and aged cheeses.

Vintage: 2022

Taste: The nose is complex and refined, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum), accompanied by spicy notes (black pepper, clove), hints of garrigue, and lightly woody, toasted touches if partially aged in oak. With aeration, nuances of cocoa, licorice, and a subtle floral note (violet) emerge. On the palate, the attack is full and structured, with beautiful density through the mid-palate. The tannins are fine, tight, and elegant, perfectly integrated into the wine’s texture. The balance between power, freshness, and complexity is remarkable. The finish is long and persistent, marked by spicy notes and a slight minerality that reflects the terroir of the Terrasses du Larzac.

The Estate and the Vineyard

Domaine de l’Églisette is a family-run winery located in Moulès-et-Baucels, in the Hérault Valley, between Montpellier and Nîmes.

The vineyards extend over approximately 14 to 17 hectares around a small 12th-century Romanesque church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, giving the estate an authentic and picturesque atmosphere.

Founded in 2015 by three passionate friends, the estate quickly set itself the goal of producing generous, well-balanced wines that faithfully express the terroir of the Languedoc. The vines benefit from significant temperature variations between day and night, which help develop good aromatic complexity in the grapes.

The estate produces various red and white wines, notably under the IGP Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert designation and sometimes Terrasses du Larzac, using local Mediterranean grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, and Merlot, as well as white varieties like Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.

The wines are approachable and convivial, often fruity, structured, and representative of the southern Languedoc style—perfect for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine or sharing with friends.
