In 1996, Gérard and Xavier Milhade bought the Château Boutisse, in order to improve the quality of the domain they considered exceptional. The 25 hectares of the estate are now managed by Marc, helped by his son, who has since become the sole owner.
The very favorable sunshine of the vineyard, its geographical exposure, its limestone soil, give ripe grapes and rich in matter. The Castle is located east of the town of St EMILION, where are produced the greatest wines of this ancestral and majestic appellation.
Mainly composed of Merlot, the vineyard also includes Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as Carmenère, which is a rare grape variety on Bordeaux, offering the wines a deep color and spicy notes.
During the winemaking and the aging, only the best lots will be selected, and will give birth to the first wine, which will be selected by Bernard Burtschy.
Château Boutisse takes its name etymologically from traditional masonry, the "boutisse" being a cut stone used for the construction of buildings.
