The Rosé Vintage 2017 from the house of Louis Roederer stands out for its elegance and complexity. Combining ripe fruit richness with a refined saline tension, this rosé showcases the full expression of the grapes and the house’s expertise. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay gives the wine a silky texture, vibrant fruit aromas, and a delicate chalky minerality—perfect for pairing with a gourmet meal or enjoying immediately.

This wine is crafted using Louis Roederer’s signature gentle infusion technique: a slow maceration of Pinot Noir skins followed by the addition of Chardonnay juice. This method preserves the grapes’ saline freshness and energy while providing structure and brightness. The Pinot Noir contributes red fruit, tension, and backbone, while the Chardonnay adds finesse, luminosity, and aromatic balance.

The grapes come from exceptional plots, notably Cumières in the Marne Valley and Chouilly on the Côte des Blancs. The calcareous soils and optimal exposure ensure perfect maturity for the Pinot Noir and precision for the Chardonnay, resulting in a wine that is both elegant and vibrant. About 29% of the wines were aged in oak barrels, and 24% underwent malolactic fermentation, enhancing the cuvée’s complexity and roundness. The dosage is 8 g/l, achieving a perfect balance between fruit and freshness. Harvest took place from August 31 to September 9, 2017.

The 2017 vintage was particularly challenging, with a frosty spring and a capricious summer. Nevertheless, the best parcels produced fully ripe, fruit-rich grapes, while retaining remarkable freshness and subtle salinity. The result is a gastronomic rosé, refined, vibrant, and perfectly balanced—true to the style of the house.

The Estate and the Vineyard

Founded in 1776 and still family-owned today, Louis Roederer is considered one of the great names of Champagne. The house owns an extensive vineyard of around 240 hectares, located on some of the finest terroirs in the region, mainly classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru. This strong presence in the vineyards allows the estate to oversee every stage of production, from grape growing to the creation of its champagnes.

Deeply committed to environmental respect, the house has for several years been developing sustainable and biodynamic viticulture, with particular attention paid to soil health, biodiversity and the natural balance of the vineyards. This demanding approach helps produce grapes of outstanding quality while preserving the authentic expression of Champagne’s terroirs.

The vineyards extend across prestigious areas such as Verzy, known for its structured and mineral Pinot Noir; Avize, famous for elegant and refined Chardonnay; and Cumières, whose sun-exposed slopes produce generous and expressive grapes.

The Roederer style is defined by a balance of freshness, precision and aromatic depth. Through meticulous vineyard work and highly precise winemaking, the wines develop a silky texture, vibrant energy and refined minerality that have become the signature of the house.

Among its most famous creations is the prestigious Cristal Champagne, originally crafted in the 19th century for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Today, this iconic cuvée continues to embody the excellence and expertise that have established the international reputation of the house.
