Domaine Michel Juillot is an emblematic family-owned wine estate located in the heart of Mercurey, in Burgundy, on the renowned Côte Chalonnaise. Established in this appellation for four generations, the estate now covers 31 hectares of vineyards spread across Mercurey, Rully, and Aloxe-Corton, including approximately 8.5 hectares of Premier Cru and 1.2 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards.
Founded in 1928 in Mercurey, the estate has been developed and enhanced by successive generations of the Juillot family. Today, Laurent Juillot, the fourth-generation winemaker, personally oversees the quality of the wines and the expression of the family’s terroirs. His experience, enriched by travels and professional training abroad, is reflected in every cuvée.
The estate is managed with deep respect for the environment. Vineyard work is carried out meticulously, the harvest is done entirely by hand, and the grapes are rigorously sorted on a selection table to retain only the finest fruit. The domaine is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE3), guaranteeing a sustainable and environmentally conscious approach to viticulture.
Situated on varied and rich terroirs, notably clay-limestone soils, the estate produces a broad range of wines that faithfully reflect the diversity of its soils and climates. Vinification is carried out with the aim of allowing the fruit and terroir to fully express themselves, favoring minimal intervention and adapted techniques (gravity-flow winemaking, use of a vertical press for silky tannins, and work with indigenous yeasts).
Each year, nearly 180,000 bottles are produced across around twenty appellations—from Bourgogne Blanc and Rouge to Mercurey Village and Premier Cru, as well as Grand Crus from the Côte de Beaune (Corton-Perrières and Corton-Charlemagne). The estate’s wines enjoy strong recognition in French and international wine guides and are widely exported across several continents.
The domaine’s cuvées are characterized by elegance, aromatic freshness, and natural balance. The red wines, mainly made from Pinot Noir, express the fruit and structure typical of the Chalonnaise terroirs, while the whites, produced from Chardonnay, reveal beautiful minerality and refined aromatic finesse.
