The Estate and the Vineyard

Domaine de Pellehaut is a renowned family-owned vineyard in the South-West of France, located in Montréal‑du‑Gers, in the heart of Gascony, a historic region known for Armagnac and Côtes de Gascogne wines. The estate has been owned by the Béraut family, who have lived in the region for over 300 years and have been winemakers for multiple generations.

The estate centers around the Château de Pellehaut, an 18th-century building overlooking vineyard-covered hills. The name "Pellehaut" dates back to Roman times, as evidenced by mosaics discovered nearby at the Villa of Séviac. Spanning 500 hectares, including 250 hectares of vineyards, the estate benefits from a varied terroir of clay-limestone soils, boulbènes, and other vine-friendly soils, with slopes reaching up to 180 meters in altitude.

Influenced by the Pyrenees, the climate provides optimal sunshine and moderate summer rainfall, ideal for vine cultivation. The vineyard practices traditional and sustainable viticulture, complemented by Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle breeding and cereal cultivation to maintain soil health and limit chemical fertilizers. The estate is certified High Environmental Value (HVE).

Domaine de Pellehaut produces a wide range of white, rosé, and red wines, from fresh, youthful wines meant for early consumption to more complex, structured cuvées. The main grape varieties include Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Chardonnay, Tannat, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet, depending on the cuvée. The white wines are distinguished by their freshness and aromatic intensity, rosés by their fruity notes, and reds by their structure and richness.

In addition to wines, the estate produces AOC Armagnacs, made from traditional grape varieties such as Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche, with vintage stocks recognized for their quality both in France and internationally.

The wines and Armagnacs of Domaine de Pellehaut have received numerous awards, including at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, and are featured in major guides such as Guide Hachette and Gault & Millau.

In short, Domaine de Pellehaut is a historic vineyard in Gascony that combines family tradition, environmental respect, product diversity, and internationally recognized quality in both wine and spirits.
