The Mâcon-Villages 2024 from Domaine Trénel is a lively, fresh and floral Chardonnay, offering a round and elegant palate — an ideal introduction to the white wines of the Mâconnais.

In this Mâcon-Villages cuvée, the 2024 vintage from Maison Trénel beautifully expresses Chardonnay grown in southern Burgundy. Both charming and refined, it is carefully vinified from vines planted on limestone soils, achieving a subtle balance between pure fruit, mineral freshness and a silky texture. It is crafted for those seeking a distinctive white wine that is enjoyable in its youth, yet capable of developing added complexity.

Delightful to drink now, this Mâcon-Villages 2024 will gain further depth over the next 3 to 5 years. For lovers of fine, elegant Chardonnay, this cuvée from Domaine Trénel offers an appealing alternative to grand terroir whites, while maintaining excellent freshness and drinkability.

Food Pairing: Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with seafood starters (oysters, shellfish), grilled fish, poultry in a light cream sauce, or aged goat’s cheese.

Vintage: 2024

Taste: The bouquet is alluring, led by aromas of Granny Smith apple, pear and soft citrus notes (lemon, pink grapefruit), followed by delicate white floral hints of hawthorn and acacia. A subtle touch of flint or gunflint adds a refined mineral tension on the nose. On the palate, the attack is fresh and precise. A beautiful purity of fruit emerges immediately, supported by a delicate texture and elegant fluidity. The mid-palate develops with a fine, silky mouthfeel — never heavy — and well-integrated acidity. Limestone-driven minerality subtly underpins the structure, adding depth and definition. The finish is persistent and crystalline, delicately saline, with lingering notes of citrus and white flowers.

The Estate and the Vineyard

Maison Trenel is a historic and respected wine merchant house based in Charnay-lès-Mâcon in the southern Mâconnais (Burgundy). It was founded in 1928 by Henri Claudius Trénel, originally specializing in fruit liqueurs and artisanal cordials before quickly turning to the purchase and vinification of grapes sourced from carefully selected terroirs.

With nearly a century of experience, the house has built its reputation on wines that faithfully reflect the authenticity of both fruit and terroir. Its vineyards are ideally situated on clay-limestone and stony soils, particularly around the famous Roche de Solutré, which lends the wines a distinctive minerality and natural elegance.

Since 2015, Maison Trenel has been part of the Michel Chapoutier group, while retaining its autonomy and unique identity. This partnership has further strengthened the focus on precise winemaking and overall wine quality.

Today, the house produces a complete range of white and red wines from the Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions — from Mâcon-Villages and Saint-Véran to more gastronomic expressions such as Pouilly-Fuissé — combining Burgundian tradition, respect for terroir, and a clear, refined aromatic expression.
