A sweet white wine with the Monbazillac AOC designation, meaning it is made from white grapes (mainly Sémillon, often complemented by Muscadelle and sometimes Sauvignon), hand-harvested through successive selective pickings to choose bunches affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which gives rise to the aromatic concentration and natural sweetness typical of great Monbazillac dessert wines.
The 2022 Monbazillac “Plume” from Château La Robertie is described by the estate as a light, airy and fruity wine, with a more moderate sweetness than other classic sweet cuvées — hence its name “Plume,” evoking softness and delicacy.
Food Pairings: This style of Monbazillac traditionally pairs well with foie gras (a classic of Southwest France), blue cheeses, and not-too-sweet fruit-based desserts. It can also be enjoyed as an apéritif, thanks to its relative lightness.
Vintage: 2022
Taste: The palate is expected to be smooth and gently sweet, without excessive sugar—offering a soft, light, easy-to-drink sensation, with freshness that maintains the wine’s overall balance. The texture is often supple and caressing, making this Monbazillac enjoyable even as an apéritif or alongside slightly salty dishes. The nose is fresh and fruity, evoking ripe fruits rather than heavy, candied profiles. Thanks to careful grape selection and the winemaking style, the aromas remain expressive yet delicate, rather than overly rich or syrupy.

Château La Robertie is a small organic wine estate of around 9 hectares, located in Rouffignac-de-Sigoulès, within the Bergerac/Monbazillac wine-growing area. The estate has been farmed organically since 2011–2012, with careful vineyard work that respects both the soil and the environment.
The domaine has been shaped around quality vineyards, redefined by several successive owners. In 2021, Juliette Muret-Sbrana took over the estate, bringing her background as an agronomist and her personal vision of wine—more expressive and focused on the natural balance of the fruit. The wines are often described as “human,” with a strong personality, close attention to nuance, and a sensitive expression of terroir.
The vineyard is rooted in diverse soils, ranging from deep clays to limestone terrains, which are well suited to aromatic diversity in the grape varieties. Viticultural practices are rigorous: gentle mechanical soil work, the use of cover crops to enhance vineyard vitality, hand harvesting when necessary, and a deliberate limitation of inputs.
Château La Robertie produces a wide range of wines from the Bergerac region, including:
- Monbazillac AOC (sweet dessert wines).
- Côtes-de-Bergerac (red, rosé, and semi-sweet wines).
- Bergerac dry and white wines .
- Occasionally wines made without added sulfites or more original styles (sparkling wines, orange wines).
The estate has already earned awards and medals in regional competitions and regularly appears in wine guides for certain vintages. La Robertie wines are often appreciated for their balance between fruit, freshness, and expression of terroir. The Monbazillac and other sweet white wines show attractive aromatic profiles without excessive heaviness, while the reds often display fine balance, supple tannins, and pleasing depth.
In summary: Château La Robertie is a small, artisanal, biodynamically minded estate in the Bergerac/Monbazillac area, driven by a sensitive approach to winemaking that favors terroir expression, environmental respect, and a diverse range of wines—fruit-driven and well balanced, reflecting both the soils of Southwest France and the hands that craft them.
